Description

Join us for an artist talk and demo with Kimberly Becker. During this one-hour talk, Kimberly will discuss the roots of her art activism as she assembles one of her Resistance Dolls.

About Kimberly Becker | I fight for the rights of women with my art. I’m an embroiderer, seamstress, painter, storyteller. I sew dresses, make dolls, and embroider words to tell stories women want to share. We all have experiences of being diminished, overlooked, undervalued simply for being born female. When people see my work and read the stories, they often get very emotional. They see themselves in the stories, or their mother or grandmother. When visitors experience my Resistance Dolls, and the sheer number of them, they begin to understand the commitment I have made and the importance of my efforts.

Our political system is unraveling. Activism is hard. Making something with our hands is a meditative process. Join me to hear about my evolution as an activist and artist.
