Description

Framing Our Future: Celebrating 75 Years of the Cambridge Art Association
POSTPONED

Support CAA TODAY, and CELEBRATE with us later. While we are uncertain when - or if - we will be able to reschedule this event, we do know that we need your support. With our galleries closed and programs put on hold, we are projecting significant losses in revenue this year. Every 'ticket' purchase will be considered a 100% tax deductible donation to our Framing Our Future campaign, and will work to ensure that the CAA weathers this storm.

HONORING 2020 CAMBRIDGE ART CHAMPION JARED BOWEN

Jared Bowen, Host of Open Studio on WGBH | Executive Arts Editor Jared Bowen is the Emmy award-winning host of the weekly television series, Open Studio with Jared Bowen, which takes viewers inside the creative process, offering a blend of profiles, performances, and contemporary exhibitions by artists in Greater Boston, New England, and across the country. He is a contributor to WGBH-TV’s nightly news magazine program, Greater Boston and appears regularly on 89.7 WGBH, where he covers the latest happenings in the region’s theater, art, music, dance and film on WGBH’s Morning Editionand Boston Public Radio. He also serves as a coach on the choir competition show Sing That Thing! and is the moderator of the Boston Speakers Series at Symphony Hall facilitating conversations with everyone from world leaders to Oscar-winning actors. He is a member of the Boston Theater Critics Association, the Boston Online Film Critics Association and is a Trustee of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Jared is also a contributor to the PBS NewsHour and Art New England magazine.

Jared has produced five news documentaries for WGBH and the first three seasons of the public media company’s Eye on Education initiative. He has won two New England Emmys and an Edward R. Murrow Award for his arts reporting and is a recipient of the Commonwealth Award, recognizing achievement in the arts, humanities and sciences.

Jared began his career at Dateline NBC in New York, and is a graduate of Emerson College where he also won several Associated Press Awards.

Funds raised on May 8th will support CAA’s core programs:

  • Exhibits – CAA creates more than 30 opportunities each year for our local artists to exhibit and sell their artwork. That’s more opportunities than any other arts organization in the Greater Boston area! And, our galleries are free and open to the public five days per week.

  • Educational programs – In our 75th year, we’re building on our successful professional development programs, like Instagram for Artists and our annual Portfolio Reviews, and adding more opportunities for artists to develop a thriving practice, as well as hands-on intensive workshops.

  • Art lending – Over the past year, our Art Rental leased more than 120 original artworks by CAA members, returning 50% of all fees to working artists in the community. Our goal is to increase the size of this program by 15% each year, and serve a greater number of artists in our community.

  • Artist networking  – in addition to our popular Feedback Forums – our members’ critique group – we are adding more opportunities for artists to connect at CAA and offsite.
