New Program!
As we embrace social distancing, and look for creative ways to share art and inspiration, CAA is launching a series of Virtual Studio visits. We will host these visits via ZOOM, allowing up to 100 guests to ‘visit’ local artist's studios, ask questions about the artists work and progress, and share in community, from a distance. For our third Virtual Studio Visit, we are pleased to visit the studio of Haleh Fotowat!
Virtual Studio Visits are free, and open to all!
If you are not already registered in our database, you can close the account login pop-up on the registration page by clicking the X in the top right corner, and then proceed with your registration.

About Haleh's Artwork: Haleh Fotowat is an artist, neuroscientist and experimentalist. As a neuroscientist she studies the effect of past experience on future behaviors. Through her art she aspires to reveal subconscious forces of the mind and their variation with emotional states. Her paintings are often inspired by musical improvisations and built upon spontaneously generated gestures, movements and thoughts. There is a great sense of rhythm in her colorful abstract paintings that reflects the musicality and dynamic nature of their creation.
About Haleh: Haleh Fotowat was born in Tehran, Iran. After completing her college education in Tehran, she moved to the US where she obtained a doctorate degree in biomedical sciences. Music and visual arts have always been an integral part of Fotowat’s life. She has been playing an Iranian string musical instrument called Kanun for the past 30 years and been part of various performing groups. Her training in the visual arts started in Tehran where she took courses in drawing, painting and photography, and in Canada where she studied creative painting at the Ottawa School of art. Since 2014 she has exhibited her paintings in the context of various solo and group shows. She currently lives in Cambridge, MA where she practices art at her home studio and works as a neuroscience researcher at Harvard University.
