Description

Mindful Stitching, with Michèle Fandel Bonner

Wednesdays, June 3, 10, 17, 2020, 10am-noon each day

Level: Beginner to Intermediate

Over the course of three weeks, Michèle teach you how to make a well fitting mask, and a bento bag, placemat or scarf using materials you have in your closet. Using fabric recovered from your old or damaged clothing we will make the mask (with filter pocket) and one of three projects, using basic hand sewing skills. We will meet online to sew and discuss the benefits of hand-sewing as a creative expression and stress reliever and to get started on the projects. Much of the work will be done between classes. Hand sewing is time-consuming but very relaxing!

Students will need to complete prep work before each class starts in order to get the most from our time together. Materials list, patterns and instruction will be provided before each class. Basic hand sewing skills and supplies are required for this class.

Week 1: Mask

Week  2: Bento Bag, Placemat, or Scarf

Week 3: Bento Bag, Placemat, or Scarf and sharing finished projects.

About Michèle Fandel Bonner: Michèle has been making since childhood and studied Art Therapy in college. She teaches knitting and sewing as a therapeutic and creative practice. Her work addresses issues of identity, time, and experience. Her favorite materials are the overlooked and ignored detritus of everyday life. www.michelebonner.com, michelefandelbonner on instagram
