Summary

Amidst the pandemic and on-going systemic racism, artists and creatives with mission-driven practices are severely impacted. A lot of us lost gigs and opportunities that were going to sustain us for months and into the future perhaps. Come join this interactive session for artists, culture bearers and tenders on how to rest, stay resilient, work, collaborate, and manage our practices during such turbulent times. Let’s strategize, share best practices on adaptation, and learn resources on what to do next to maintain forward momentum for ourselves and as a community.

THIS WORKSHOP WILL BE HOSTED ON ZOOM. All program registrations close 1 week prior to the program date, at 5pm. ZOOM links for all classes are sent out the day before the first class date, no later than 5pm.

About Tran Vu

Tran Vu (she/her) is a Vietnamese-American interdisciplinary artist and organizer whose socially
engaged work draws from her experience as a community organizer, educator, and healer. Tran
threads her social practice through photography, painting, sculpture and audio so that her art
can resonate and engage audience with intentionality. She received her MA in Arts and Politics
at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and her BA in Ethnic Studies and Visual Arts
at Brown University. Tran works across borders and is based in Boston’s Dorchester
community.

As a seasoned and trained instructor in radical hospitality and organizing, I am committed to
holding accessible and inclusive spaces. For this proposed session, I plan to cultivate both a
creative and innovative digital space through visual/multimedia materials + assets, interactive
slides as well as activities that will promote active listening and participation. In addition, I will
have space agreements, a tentative agenda shared in advance as well as follow up materials
and resources for attendees to have as references post-session. I believe in providing flexible
structures to meet participants where they are at and what the moment needs.
