Hadley Powell and Lilah Aubrey of Powell Fine Art Advisory answer the questions: “What is art advisory?,” “What can an artist expect when working with an art advisor?,” and “What role do art advisors play in educating and connecting interested collectors with local artists?” Join us for this informational talk with two experts in the field. Hadley and Lilah will bring their art market expertise to the discussion, as well as their passion for connecting local artists and collectors.
This talk is part of an ongoing series of public talks exploring relevant topics related to the ‘art market’ at-large, focusing more broadly on sharing the tools and resources available to help artists increase market success and expand upon their awareness of their local/regional art market.

About Hadley Powell
Hadley’s expertise spans from Old Master prints to Contemporary art. She started her career at Christie’s, New York as a specialist in the Prints & Multiples department where she researched and cataloged prints from Rembrandt to Rauschenberg. Subsequently in the Impressionist & Modern Art department, she worked on the high-profile evening sales, where she advised clients buying and selling at auction and assisted in private collection management and fine art appraisals.
Hadley received a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and a minor in Economics from Union College. She holds a Master’s degree in Modern Art, Connoisseurship and the History of the Art Market from Christie’s Education, New York. Her prize-winning thesis studied the impact of the 1913 Armory Show on George Bellows’s Monhegan Island, Maine paintings.
She lives in Brookline, Massachusetts.
About Lilah Aubrey
Lilah is an art industry specialist who held senior positions at Sotheby’s and Richard Gray Gallery. In addition to having widespread knowledge of the field of 20th century and contemporary art, its scholarship and appraisal, Lilah maintains an extensive industry network and is adept at collection strategy and multi-faceted project leadership, as well as negotiating the acquisition, deaccession, and loan of art objects.
As Director at Richard Gray Gallery in Chicago and New York, Lilah oversaw the gallery’s appraisal services. Lilah’s focused work with institutions, private collections, family offices and foundations included advising on artwork stewardship and cultural philanthropies. Prior to Richard Gray Gallery, Lilah managed Sotheby’s regional office in Boston where she oversaw the appraisal and consignment process for New England clients.
She lives in New York City and Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts.
