Description

Proposal Writing with Laura Knott   

Securing financial support from foundations, cultural organizations, and residency programs means writing compelling proposals. In this workshop, you will learn techniques for writing engaging proposals that, in addition to providing access to funds, will also help you grow as an artist. 

This program will be hosted on ZOOM for 3 consecutive Wednesdays, 12:00-2:00pm (April 13, 20, and 27).

Session 1 | April 13: Finding opporSessiontunities, exploring research techniques, and crafting a flexible project description

Session 2 | April 20: Understanding what kinds of questions will be asked in a proposal, and how to answer them

Session 3 | April 27: Developing writing techniques to get your proposal noticed

 

 

About Laura Knott

Laura Knott has written dozens of grant proposals and received funding from the Nation Endowment for the Arts, the Massachusetts Cultural Council, and numerous private foundations. A writer, curator, and performer, she recently curated an exhibition of works by the renowned performance artist Joan Jonas. Laura’s writing has been published by the Boston Art Review, Leonardo, the MIT School of Architecture + Planning, and the MIT Museum. Her artistic projects have been presented online and in international venues, including the documenta exhibition. A recent short film was screened in Athens and Mexico City, and in several cities in the United States. Laura is an alumna of Duke University, where she studied political science and choreography, and she holds a degree from MIT’s Center for Advanced Visual Studies, where she studied environmental art and film/video. She was the producer of the live-streamed Worldwide Simultaneous Dance, an online work in which dancers performed in 11 countries at the same time, on the theme of PLACE, as in, “This is me, dancing where I am.” Laura is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Cambridge Art Association.
