Description

Demo: Golden Artist Colors, with Adria Arch

Wednesday, October 26, 6:30-7:30pm

This is a Member Event, and is free for all current CAA Members

The GOLDEN hands-on, lecture-demo is a fun, fast-paced informative lecture covering a technical review of acrylics and their varied application possibilities.

The lecture demo will present information on pigments, viscosities, gels, mediums and more. Learn how acrylics can be used as grounds for other media, such as watercolor or colored pencil; get key information on color mixing, blending and controlling drying time; and see how gels can be used to modify paint properties or create unique textural surfaces. From traditional to contemporary to mixed media, acrylics are infinitely versatile. Artists of all levels will come away from this lecture demo with fresh new insights to feed their creative expression. Try it before you buy it! All participants will receive free product samples and a literature packet, including hand-painted color charts.

Space is limited, and pre-registration is required.

About Adria Arch

Adria Arch is an artist living in the Boston area. Her recent installation work features sculptures made from lightweight plastic and comprised of sinuous shapes inhabiting space.  Suspended from the ceiling and walls, this work combines the formal concerns of painting while extending into space like sculpture. Arch's work questions what is a painting and how the viewer relates to it. Arch has had solo exhibitions at Danforth Art in Framingham, MA, the Art Complex Museum in Duxbury, MA, and the Hunt Gallery at Mary Baldwin College in Virginia. She has completed site-specific murals at Lesley University's Porter Square building in Cambridge, MA, Stonehill College, and Danforth Art in Framingham, MA. Arch has been awarded residencies at Vermont Studio Center, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, Sanskriti Foundation in Delhi, and in Auvillar, France. Her work is included in many private and public collections including the DeCordova Sculpture Park and Museum, Fidelity Corporation, and the Federal Bank of Boston. Her work was recently featured at the Fitchburg Art Museum and is currently on view at the Cahoon Museum of American Art on the Cape as well as the New Bedford Art Museum.
