Demo: Portrait Painting, with Ricky Vasan

In this workshop, Ricky Vasan will demonstrate his painting process and how drawing, measurement and simplification are some of the stylistic choices he makes while woking on a painting. He will also go over the advantages and disadvantages of working from a photo reference and how photography can be a part of the painting process.

This demo will give people an inside look into Ricky Vasan's class How to Build a Portrait, which will occur on February 4, 2023 noon-3pm at the Kathryn Schultz Gallery. To find out more information about Ricky's February class, please visit CAA's event page.

About Ricky Vasan

Ricky Vasan is a painter, sculptor and musician. Born and raised in Dehradun, India. He moved to Boston, USA in 2019 to pursue a Bachelors of Fine Art degree in Painting at the Massachusetts College of Art & Design. Vasan’s work is grounded in Realism with an emphasis on simplifying his subject matter while highlighting the geometry found in organic forms. His work revolves around portraying intimate narratives from his life, often exploring ideas of identity and the duality of living between two countries.
